Drawn to its self-aware eccentricities, photographer Amy Lombard visits the Republic of Molossia, a self-proclaimed independent country in the Nevada desert.
Molossia has its own currency, rules and identity  despite its geographical location in Nevada in the US.

The micronation is celebrating is under the leadership of its irrepressible president, His Excellency Kevin Baugh the man described by his wife as a ‘benevolent dictator’.
Molossia does not pay taxes (although it does voluntarily provide “foreign aid” to surrounding Storey County), and has its currency printed on poker chips.

There is an official language (it’s English, but the diplomatic auxiliary language Esperanto is an officially recognized second language), national anthem, bank, railroad, navy, and war office, and plenty more, too.
